KUCC Bushfire Appeal Fundraiser

Senior cricket is back this weekend, and while we hope everyone had an enjoyable break it’s been terrible seeing the news coming in from the fire affected areas over the past month. The club has decided to help in whatever small way we can, and we’ve set up a Go Fund Me page to help raise some much needed funds for some important appeals.

All money donated will be split between the Victorian Bushfire Appeal and the Wildlife Victoria Bushfire Appeal, and all donations are tax deductible.

Whether you’re a player, supporter, family or sponsor, we’d love to see the Muirs community come together to support this important cause and help these devastated regions. The club has made a significant contribution to kick things off, now it’s your turn

Stay tuned this week for some more fundraising initiatives on the weekend as we do what we can.

As always, Go Muirs.

Muirs Update #4 12 December

Welcome to the latest update on Muirs on field progress. Each round we highlight a few teams from across the age spectrum of the club.

There was a Muirs derby in the Under 14Bs over the past two Friday nights at Koonung Park, as the Blue and White sides faced off.  This game featured clubmate against clubmate, friend against friend and in one case, brother against brother!  The blue team came away with the points, but by all reports the game was well fought out by both teams and played in good spirits.

The Under 16A Friday night team are off to a strong start, currently sitting second on the ladder.  This round saw them take on Vermont at Vermont, and led by James and Caleb with the ball, and Darcy and Alistair with the bat, they triumphed with several overs to spare.   A number of players from this team also made good contributions in senior teams over this round, showing the talent that is blossoming at this level.

In the seniors, the Fourths laid on a grandstand finish at Blackburn South.  Chasing 214 to win, the team looked to be in trouble at 6/96 with a batsman retired hurt.  But Bryn, Elvis, Turtle and Giggles had other ideas, steering the side to 9/200.  Nadeep came limping back out with Elvis as his runner, and survived long enough for Turtle to first bring up his 50, and then clobber a boundary over long on in the last over of the day to seal a memorable win.

We thank our sponsors for their great support of the club, and this week want to highlight Atlas Concrete and Landscapes, Dave’s Dog Wash, and Ritter Land Rover.  Please continue to support the businesses that support our club, and let them know you are part of the Muirs!

Muirs Update #3 5 December

Welcome to the latest update on Muirs on field progress. Each round we highlight a few teams from across the age spectrum of the club.

The Under 9 White team put in a great performance on Sunday against Blackburn at Springfield Park. Ewan took 2 wickets in his 3 overs as all the bowlers did a great job, while with the bat Archie and Archer both pushed into double figures.

The Under 14 Friday A Grade team are off to a good start this season, and this week have set Heatherdale 192 to chase. Pat retired on 56*, while Jayden and Pasandul also posted 30+ scores. Pasandul added to his bag of tricks when he leapt in to fill in as a fielder in the seniors on Saturday after his Dad unluckily sustained a hamstring injury!

Highlight of the week in the seniors was a sparkling 137* by Gags in the Thirds, supported by 50+ scores by Ben and Macca. The team declared at 6/322 and snatched the first Nunawading wicket before stumps were called. Confirmation is being sought with a former club president that 137* is better than 102*.

The juniors, seniors, families and friends that came down to watch the T20 team last night were treated to a fun night and a good performance. The T20 team stand at one win, one loss and one downpour. The next game is also at Springfield Park on December 18, and it will be another great night for everyone to get together at the club – keep the date free!

We thank our sponsors for their great support of the club, and this week want to highlight Rinnai, Swimco, and NBS Cleaning Services.  Please continue to support the businesses that support our club, and let them know you are part of the Muirs!

Muirs Update 14 November

Welcome to the latest update on Muirs on field progress. Each round we highlight a few teams from across the age spectrum of the club.

It was raining boundaries at Templestowe this week as our Fast 9 White team combined to hit the ropes 17 times in an impressive score of 138 off 30 overs. The bowling was tight to restrict the opposition to 57 runs. A great team effort with everyone contributing!

The Under 16 B Grade side had a one day fixture at Springfield Park on Saturday and overcame Mitcham by 11 runs. Everyone chipped in with bat, ball or both, with special mention for Thomas who knocked up a career best 30. The side sits in 2nd spot on the ladder early in the season.

At the other end of the age Groups, the A Division Veterans brought home the chocolates for the first time this season, rolling neighbours Blackburn North at Springfield Park on Sunday afternoon. Wickets were shared around, Loges took his customary catch, and the top order knocked off the runs with a couple of overs to spare.

We thank our sponsors for their great support of the club, and this week want to highlight Air Systems Engineering, Australian Synthetic Turf and JT&P Chartered Accountants. Please continue to support the businesses that support our club, and let them know you are part of the Muirs!
